Valerie Lois Martel Eggleston

Valerie Lois Martel Eggleston, 93, of Meridian, Idaho, died on Monday, December 8, 2025 at home.

She was born to Ella MacQuarrie Martel and Armand D. Martel in Swift Current, Saskatchewan, Canada. Valerie attended elementary school in Swift Current, high school in Detroit, Michigan and in 1991 she received a Bachelor of Science at Carroll University, in Waukesha, Wisconsin.

On June 4, 1958, Valerie married Jerry Eggleston in Pasadena, California. Together they resided in Salem, Oregon, Boise, Idaho and Waukesha, Wisconsin. Valerie had worked at AT&T before marriage and then became a homemaker and volunteer at the State Historical Museum and also at Koelsch School.

Her hobbies included sewing, cooking and reading but her special interest was family, especially her grandchildren.

Valerie was a member of Red Rock Christian Church and Christian Women’s Fellowship.

Survivors include her spouse, Jerry Eggelston, Boise, ID; sons, Mark (Shawn Reifschneider) Eggleston, CA and David (Shari) Eggleston, OR; grandchildren, Anthony, WA, Joshua, OR, Nathan, OR and Sarah, OR; and six great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Yvonne and a brother, Lionel.

A memorial service in honor of Valerie will be held in the spring of 2026 at Red Rock Christian Church. Inurnment will be at Dry Creek Cemetery.
