Thomas Eugene Rodgers, 71, of Boise, died Wednesday, January 6, 2016 in a Boise hospital.

Tom was born May 24, 1944 in Emmett, Idaho the son of Elmer and Margaret Harwood Rodgers. He was educated in the Emmett School District.

On January 24, 1962, he married his high school sweetheart, Kathleen O. Miller, in Boise, Idaho. A few days after his marriage, he began his service in the United States Army. He was proud of receiving letters of commendation for being one of a few out of 58,722 men to score 100% on the BCT proficiency test in the Army. While in the service, he served as an Army Medic. He was honorably discharged from active duty in 1965.

Tom and his family lived in several states including Idaho, California, Oregon, Texas, Georgia, and Mississippi. He had a varied carrier in Building Construction Management. He worked for the Idaho Bureau of Buildings and Safety and also Fleetwood Enterprises.

Tom enjoyed fishing and golf. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, going out on his boat, and watching construction. Most of all he loved his wife. They would have celebrated 54 years of marriage on January 24th of this year.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Rodgers of Boise; a daughter and her husband, Debra and Brad Perkins of Boise; a grandson and his wife, Ryan and Cumorah Rodgers of Boise; two granddaughters, Kaitlyn Garcia of Boise, and Tabitha Rodgers of Orange County, CA; a brother, Mike Rodgers of Emmett, ID; and a sister, Alma Perkins of Fruitland, ID. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Rick and Ron Rodgers.

A committal service with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 14, 2016 at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of the Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel and Crematory.
