Shirley Ann Lawson

Shirley Ann Lawson passed away peacefully, with her daughters at her side, on November 5, 2025, in Boise, Idaho. Born on June 27, 1940, to Marie and Robert (Bob) Roberts in Baltimore, Maryland, Shirley spent her formative years in the small town of Terra Alta, West Virginia.

Growing up in Terra Alta, Shirley met the love of her life, David Cadden Lawson. The two became high school sweethearts and later married on August 30, 1959. Their marriage was a strong foundation for their family and spanned sixty wonderful years.

In 1969, Shirley and David relocated with their daughters, Suzanne and Sonja, to Corvallis, Oregon. The family cherished their time in Corvallis, frequently attending games at Parker Stadium and Gill Coliseum to support the OSU Beavers, win or lose. They enjoyed camping and took many family vacations throughout the western United States. Shirley and David also traveled extensively across the United States and Europe, with particularly memorable trips to Alaska and Russia.

Shirley was an active member of the Order of Eastern Star for over 65 years. Her commitment to the organization culminated in 1995 when she served as the Worthy Grand Matron for the State of Oregon.

Above all, Shirley treasured time spent with her two daughters, five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, David Cadden Lawson, who passed away in 2019.

Shirley is survived by her daughters, Suzanne Gordon Boise, Idaho, and Sonja Schriever Meridian, Idaho. Her grandchildren, Aron Schriever, Karly Schriever, Jesicca Gordon, Audra Lynch, and Sam Rutkowski, and her great-grandchildren: Johnathan, Brenden, Kloe, Russell, Wyatt, and Marlowe.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Harrison’s Hope Hospice for their care and support. A heartfelt thank you to Lisa, Heather, and Elise, for the kindness, compassion, and gentle care they provided for mom.

Psalm 73:26: “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”
