Shirley Ann Krone

Shirley Ann Krone, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, went to be with God on February 24, 2016 after a short battle with cancer.

Shirley was born to Henry and Amelia Maser on May 17, 1928 in Lincoln, Nebraska, the youngest of three children. After graduating from Lincoln High School in 1946, Shirley attended University of Nebraska and University of Colorado where she met her life partner, Frank Krone. After graduating in 1950 with a Physical Education degree, Shirley and Frank were married in Lincoln, Nebraska. The couple lived on the East Coast while Frank served in the Navy. After leaving active duty the couple moved to Denver, Colorado where they
were blessed with three children: Frank Jr., Linda Susan, and Sharen Elizabeth. Changes in Frank’s job took the family to Lincoln, Nebraska in 1963, and then to Boise in 1972.

Shirley was a full time mother until 1977 when she went to work for the Boise School District where she worked until she retired. Shirley was a member of the Cathedral of the Rockies and the YMCA, and volunteered with the Assistance League. She enjoyed snow skiing, boating, ceramics, gardening, baking, raising her family and cheering on the Boise Broncos! Shirley and Frank loved to travel. They visited all 50 United States with a special love for Hawaii. They also traveled to Tahiti, Europe, Russia, China, Mexico and the Caribbean Islands.

Shirley is survived by son Frank and wife Karen; daughter Linda and husband Steve Hardy; daughter Sharen and husband Scott Fretwell; grandchildren, Daniel (Jessica) Baker, Chris (Megan) Baker, Samantha Fretwell and Kyle Fretwell; two great-granddaughters, Olivia and Addison Baker; and her brother, Wes Maser. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank and her sister, Gerry Cole.

There will be an Aloha reception to celebrate Shirley’s life on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Alden-Waggoner, 5400 Fairview Avenue, Boise, Idaho at 4:00 p.m. Aloha attire encouraged.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the Boise YMCA.
