Rosemary W. Hartwig Peterson Swanson

Rosemary W. Hartwig Peterson Swanson left us due to COPD and moved right into the arms of her beloved Saviour, Jesus Christ on Jan. 11, 2017. Rosemary was born in Wisconsin to Karl and Agnes (Heinz) Hartwig on July 30, 1930. Being the oldest of seven, much of her time was spent in helping her mother with the large family. At the age of 14 she had to leave home to begin working. She married Norman L. Peterson on April 9, 1948. Two daughters were born to them, Yvonne and Georgia. They eventually moved from Wisconsin to Illinois and to Idaho where they settled in Twin Falls and later in Homedale where she worked with Norman in various business ventures. In 1975 Norman passed away and Rosemary moved to the Boise area. She spent lots of time with her two young granddaughters and began to bowl which she loved. She was quite proud of her high score of 239. In 1982 she married Weldon Swanson. They enjoyed twenty-two years together before Weldon passed away in 2004. In 1990 Rosemary began twenty-four years of fund raising for Bethesda Community Homes for the mentally and physically challenged. She thoroughly enjoyed this work and all the people she met and got to know during this time. Rosemary was very open about her struggles with being Bi-polar and served for over 20 years as leader of a self-help group for people with mental disorders called Recovery Inc. Rosemary was preceded in death by two husbands, her mother and father, three brothers, Bud, Gordon, and Dave, one sister, Grace. She leaves one brother Marv (Donna) Hartwig in Wisconsin, one sister Louise Billerbeck in Illinois, two sister’s in law Rita Hartwig in Wisconsin and Judy Camden in Illinois, two daughters, Yvonne (Dan) Bojanowski of Meridian, and Georgia (Gary) Lett of Meridian, two granddaughters, Krista (Sam) Chang of Connecticut, and Kara (Brad) Dixon of Meridian, seven great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Rosemary was a loving, giving person who always had a hug for everyone she met. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent in Rosemary’s name to Bethesda Lutheran Communities, 600 Hoffman Drive, Watertown, Wisconsin 53094. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Grace Assisted Living in Boise for their kind care of Rosemary. A service will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Boise at 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 with viewing one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Dry Creek Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel.
