Rodney Eugene Schiefelbein

Rodney Eugene “Rod” Schiefelbein, 65, of Boise, passed away on Sunday, March 7, 2021. A private prayer service was held at Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel, followed by private burial at Morris Hill Cemetery.

Rod was born on March 12, 1955 in Hastings, Nebraska to Dennis E. and Mary Lou (Cook) Schiefelbein. He attended Boise grade schools, Koelsch and Mountain View, Fairmont Junior High and then graduated from Capital High School. Rod was then employed for a few years as a route driver for Schwan’s, and then worked for BC Sales out of Fruitland. He was forced to retire on disability due to Charcoe Tooth Marie Disease, which he suffered with for years. Even with this disease he enjoyed his work, but as his CTM advanced he spent much of his days doing yardwork at the home he shared with his mother. Rod loved to follow Boise State sports, especially football and his favorite pro team was the Green Bay Packers. He liked to go to the horse races and many times would meet his parents at the track amd make it an afternoon. Rod enjoyed being outdoors, also hunting in his early years. He was an avid NASCAR fan. Rod was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2020.

Rod was preceded in death by his father, Dennis Schiefelbein. He is survived by his mother, Mary Lou Schiefelbein; his brother Bob Schiefelbein; his sisters Becky (Partch) and Barb (Finch); his son, Brent; his daughter Kim; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the Nurses, Respiratory Therapists, and staff at Cascadia of Boise for their care and wonderful compassion during Rod’s final months and days.

Rod fought a brave battle with his health challenges for many years. He will be missed and will now rest in eternal peace.
