Robert (Bob) Pond, 90, of Boise, passed away at home on Saturday, October 29th. Bob was born at Pond’s Lodge in Island Park, Idaho on June 10, 1926 to Angus and Rella Pond. He was raised with his three sisters, Gloria, Virginia and Marilyn, in Blackfoot and Idaho Falls. After graduating from Idaho Falls High School in 1944, he joined the Navy and completed his service in Hawaii in 1947.
Bob attended the University of Idaho, joining Beta Theta Pi and singing with the Idaho Vandaleers. Bob graduated with a Bachelor degree in Business in 1951 and was a loyal lifelong Vandal.
Bob returned to Idaho Falls and began his career in the car business. Throughout his life he worked for several dealers in both Idaho Falls and Boise, owned his own dealerships and ended his career with many years at Bob Rice Ford.
In 1951, Bob married Martha Rigby in Idaho Falls and they had three children; Peggy Jo, Virginia and Fredrick Robert. Following his move to Boise, Bob married Joan Blakeslee and they were together until her passing in January 1997.
On October 4, 1997, Bob married Mary Whitley and with that joined a new family as Mary had three living children, Cheryl, Jerry and Jeff, and five grandchildren. He enjoyed singing, playing golf and time with family.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Gloria. Bob is survived by two sisters, Virginia and Marilyn; his wife, Mary and her sister, Marion; his children: Peggy Jo, Virginia (Paul) and Fred (Cherie); step-children: Cheryl, Jerry (Merry Dawn), Jeff (Billie); ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, November 2nd at 1:00 PM at Wright Congregational Church located at 4821 Franklin Road in Boise. The family wishes to thank St. Luke’s Hospice, especially Megan, Stacy and Julie, for their support over the last few months.
