Robert was born in Buhl, ID on October 14th, 1932 to Opal Lee Mitchell and Russel Elmore Lyon. He had four brothers, James R. Lyons, Fred Lyon, Tom Lyon, David Light and one sister Valerie Lyon-Yturbe. At the age of eighteen Robert joined the U.S. Navy and served in the Korean War. He left the Navy after four years and married the love of his life Joan Earlene Houts at the age of twenty-three. Together they adopted 2 children, Pattie Lee Lyons and Robert “Butch” Michael Lyons.

Robert worked for the Palos Verdes Water Company in Southern California before moving back to Idaho in 1969. He worked for several local plumbing companies before founding his own plumbing business, Lyon’s Plumbing Inc, based in Eagle, ID. Robert was a skilled endurance horse rider and a horse enthusiast, keeping his horses as pets long after their retirements. After his own retirement Robert found a passion for gold detecting and travelled the world hunting for treasure.

Robert was a loving and affectionate family man with a big sense of humor. He was always teasing and playing tricks on his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren even until his final days with them.

Robert is survived by his brothers Tom and David, his sister Valerie, his daughter Pattie, his son Butch, eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

A small graveside service was held at Dry Creek Cemetery on Monday, May 8th where he was laid to rest next to his lifelong partner Joanie. He was beloved by many and will be greatly missed by all.
