Richard Stephen Hade

Richard Stephen Hade, 77, of Gibbonsville, ID passed away on Monday, November 7, 2022 of natural causes in Idaho Falls, Idaho with his wife, Diane and niece, Daisy at his side.

Graveside services will be held at 10 am Tuesday, November 22 at Dry Creek Veterans Cemetery in Boise, ID.  Local arrangements are under the direction of the Alden-Waggoner Funeral Home.

Richard was born in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Richard L. and Kathleen Hade on December 20, 1944.  Richard joined the Air Force on July 27, 1965.  He held the position of a Staff Sergeant and was a jet aircraft mechanic. He served one of the four years of service in the Vietnam War. After his military career, he went on to work at the Mercury News in San Jose, California until he moved to Idaho. He then worked at The Idaho Statesman until he retired in 2008.

Richard and Diane married August 21, 1992 and lived in Boise until October of 2008 at which time they moved to Gibbonsville, Idaho where he lived with his wife of 30 years, his 20 chickens and his dog, Tucker.

Richard was known by many names to his friends and family. He never met a stranger and could carry on a conversation with anyone.  The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Richard. He had an uncanny ability to find happiness in his daily activities. His personality was contagious to everyone and he was well loved. He would often say, “ I might be old, but my mind is always young.” He got up in the morning with a smile on his face and went to bed with one. He was known for his quick wit and lame jokes. He always tried to find a way to make others laugh.

Richard’s passion was reading, riding his Harley Davidson, remote control airplanes, hunting, fishing, rafting, and spending quality time with family. His family meant the world to him.  Visits from friends and family usually put him on cloud nine and left him with his lip dragging on the ground when they left. He treasured the daily phone calls with his brother and sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Diane Hade, three daughters, Michelle Brown (John) of Las Vegas, Nevada, Tricia Larsen of Boise, Idaho, Nannette Daniel of Caldwell, Idaho, two step-sons, Trent Mathias of Boise, Idaho, Curtis Mathias (Megan) of Nampa, Idaho, two sisters, Susie Benkstein (Ernie) of Salmon, Idaho, Marie Hade of Salmon, Idaho, one brother David Hade (Marty Russell) of Shoup, Idaho, five granddaughters, Nikki Larsen, Kesha Wisenor, Brandy Larsen, Alexis Wahl, Chelsea Warner, one grandson, Charles Warner, 4 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents and sister, Elouise “Kate” Curry .
