Norma was born July 11, 1935 in Oxford, Nebraska to Cleo and Edna Hayes. When she was approximately 3 years old, her mom packed up and move Norma and her four sisters to Idaho where they settled in the Eagle area. She attended school in Eagle, graduating in 1954. She met the love of her life, Daren McIntier, on a blind date while Daren was in the Air Force stationed at Mountain Home Airforce base. They were married June, 12, 1954 in Eagle, Idaho. They lived in Mountain Home where their first daughter, Pam was born. The following year their son Lance was born while they were living in Idaho Falls. After moves to several cities in Idaho they ended up back in Mountain Home where their second daughter, Sandy was born.
In 1965 they moved to Boise where she lived for the rest of her life. Norma was a home maker for many years. In 1972, she went to work for Boise Public Schools in the records department processing microfilm. Daren and Norma were very active in the Boise Elks Lodge #310. They enjoyed time in the Lowman area at a second residence and traveled in their RV with a couple of RV clubs. Norma loved people and always enjoyed making new friends. Norma spent her last 5 ½ years at Heatherwood Senior Living where she had many friends. She loved living there and the staff took excellent care of her.
She is survived by her daughters Pam (Dennis) Lawson, Sandy (Curtis Henson) McIntier; Grandchildren, Dustin (Dixie) McIntier, Heather (Derek) Jackson, Brandon (Emily) McIntier, Shawn McIntier, Darryn (Tony Antoninka) Shipley, and 11 Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Daren, a son Lance, sisters, Dorothy, Elna May, Irene and Marie and a grandson Travis McIntier.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 8th at the Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at a later date at the Idaho Veteran’s Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 7th at the Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel.
