Nancy Lee Alexander

Nancy Lee Alexander (83) of Boise died peacefully at her home on August 8, 2023. Nancy was born February 6, 1940, to Robert and Roberta Callender of Emmett, Idaho. She graduated from Emmett High School in 1958 and the University of Arizona in 1962 where she was a proud member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. Elementary education was Nancy’s true calling. She taught first grade in Forest Grove, Oregon before returning to Idaho where she spent seven years at Owyhee and Hawthorne Elementary Schools.

On October 28, 1971, Nancy was married to Nathan M Alexander. Nate was the center of Nancy’s life - her best friend and confidant. Their life together was a fairy tale come true. Nancy was a devoted mother to her two children, Natalie and Nathan, and a loving grandmother to Mabel and Henry.

Nancy lived an extraordinary life. She enjoyed playing tennis, bridge, walking, antiquing and spending time with her many wonderful friends whose gift of friendship was forever precious to Nancy.

She was a member of Saint Michael’s Episcopal Church, the Junior League of Idaho, St. Luke’s Women’s Auxiliary, Questers (Idanha Chapter), P.E.O. (Chapter H) and Hillcrest Country Club.

Nancy is survived by her loving husband and devoted companion, Nathan M Alexander; daughter, Natalie Ann Westcott (husband, Mark) of Boise; son, Nathan Robert Alexander (wife, Amanda) of Los Angeles; granddaughter Mabel Rebecca Alexander; grandson, Henry Moses Alexander; sister, Kay Luhr of Nampa; cousin, Sollie R. Callender and his son, Timothy Sol Callender, of Boise; and the many wonderful friends who provided Nancy with humor, friendship, advice and most of all their love. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Roberta Callender, and her grandparents.

A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Wednesday, August 16 at St. Michael’s Episcopal Cathedral in Boise. The Very Reverend Sean Wall will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of Alden Waggoner Funeral Chapel.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Michael’s Episcopal Church or your favorite charity.
