Mickey Duane Porter, born May 3, 1941, in Picabo, Idaho, passed away peacefully in his home on November 26, 2024, in Boise, Idaho, at the age of 83.
Mick was the son of Chet and Eunice Porter and one of 11 siblings, growing up with seven brothers and three sisters. He married Donna Louise Cossins, on April 28, 1962, and together they built a life filled with family, hard work, and cherished memories.
A dedicated butcher and meat market manager, Mick owned and operated Porter Quality Meats in Boise, a business that reflected his commitment to quality and service. He also pursued his entrepreneurial spirit with a ceramics shop and a food concession business, which he and Donna ran during summers in the Treasure Valley.
Mick loved spending time outdoors, especially water skiing, snow skiing, fishing, and traveling with his family.
Mick was a member of the Followers of Christ Church, finding strength and guidance in his faith throughout his life.
Mick is survived by his wife of 62 years, Donna; his son, Robert Porter; and his daughters, Lida Rae (Garth) Hanssen and Karen (Jeff) Beagley. He also leaves behind five grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy.
He is preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers, and one sister.
Mick will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
The family would like to extend their most heartfelt gratitude to the men who stayed and helped Mick during his last months.
Funeral services -will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at Dry Creek Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, December 3, from 5-8 p.m. at Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel, Boise.
