Maxine A. Homsher

Maxine A. Homsher, 96, of Boise, ID peacefully entered her eternal rest, June 22, 2023. Maxine was born on April 12, 1927, to William I. and Effie Ann Nibarger, in Payette, ID. Maxine was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Tacoma, WA in the Spring of 1945. Her family moved to Tacoma at the beginning of WWII. Her older cousin, Lillian, took her under her wing. They went to dances at Fort Lewis and to skate at the Roller Dome on weekends. It was while skating that she met a handsome soldier and her future husband, Roy Homsher. He was from Lancaster, PA. They met in April 1945 and he gave her a diamond in December. They married on February 24, 1946.

The couple raised three children together: Sherrill (Max) Krause, Edina MN, Twilla (Ken) Eden, and Ron (Sue) Homsher, all from Boise, ID. They hosted a foreign exchange student from Brazil, Fernando (Suzane) Mathias, that they loved as a son. They cherished 15 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Their first year of marriage was spent in Lancaster, PA. After becoming homesick, the couple moved back to Payette and then to Ontario, OR for the next 30 years. Maxine was a banker by trade. As empty nesters they moved to Union, OR for a year and spent the next ten years in Hoquiam, WA. They retired and moved close to two of their children in Boise, ID. The couple shared a wonderful 69 ½ years together, enjoying 30 years of retirement. Roy passed away at age 94. Maxine enjoyed a happy and blessed life! She was always ready to travel. She also loved family gatherings, camping, cooking, painting, crocheting, roller skating, and dancing the “jitter bug” in her younger years. Mom never knew a stranger and made lifelong friends wherever she went. She loved spending time with her niece, Julie and her dear friend Bud. In recent years, she cherished visitors and enjoyed putting puzzles together with her grandkids. She loved going for drives or out for lunch. Her faith was strong and Heaven is a little sweeter today and a bit livelier, we can only imagine, since Mom made her entry!

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister and a grandson.

Always in our hearts, until we meet again.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 4848 N. Five Mile Rd. Boise, 83713.
