Mary O. Harter

Mary Olive (Winn) Harter, 90, of Boise, died Saturday, March 26, 2011 at a local care center.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 2, 2011 at the University Christian Church, 1801 University Dr., Boise.

Mary Harter was born September 6, 1920 in Prosser, Washington to Mr. Conrad Winn and Mrs Lulu Myrtle (Tucker) Winn. She attended grade school and high school in Bakersfield, California graduating in 1939. Mary married Dale M. Harter on July 15, 1944 in Eugene, Oregon. She lived in various places throughout Oregon, Oklahoma, Montana, Texas, California, New Mexico and Idaho. Mary was a faithful homemaker and minister’s wife of a First Christian Church pastor as well as an office worker, church organist and substitute teacher. She was a seamstress and was also very musically talented as a soloist and player of the piano and organ. She also directed the children’s musical group, holding several church musicals. Mary was a member of the Christian fellowship, church choir and church music groups.

Survivors include her husband, Dale M. Harter, her four children, Joy Cobbs, Boise, ID, Daniel Harter, Waco, TX, Kathleen Stripling of Stephenville, TX, and Silvia Slaten of Wylie, TX. She is also survived by one sister, Ruth Green of Bakersfield, CA: thirteen grandchildren: and four great-grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Ruth Hansmeier of Kent, WA.
