Martin Ray Peterson

Martin Ray Peterson, 66, born in Nampa, Idaho on September 12, 1957. Martin passed away in Red Deer, Alberta Canada December 12, 2023.

Martin was born in Nampa  Idaho to Ray and Peggy Peterson.  They moved to  Ogden when Martin was 2 years old.  At 5, they transferred to Salt Lake City. The family then moved back to Nampa when Martin was 15. He went to High School at Nampa High. He had a 1969 Camaro he was very proud of. He swept floors after school at Honstead Motors in Nampa . He loved working.

At the age of 17, Martin moved with his parents to Peace River Alberta, Canada where he finished high school.  From the age of 8 on, Marty dreamed of flying. He read all the Private Pilot magazines that he could get a hold of. After graduation, in Peace River  he got his Private Pilot license at the local airport. This was a highlight of Marty‘s life. He loved flying. He  moved to Edmonton working at Canadian National Railroad as a computer programmer and retired after 22 years of service.   He then worked for a short period of time as a realtor in the Edmonton area. He moved back to Peace River a few years later at the age of 45. There he started a grocery store in town.  At 47, he had a brain aneurysm which made him unable to continue working - he lived on his own in Grande Prairie  for 18 years overcoming the need for extra care, cleaning and shopping for himself.  Loren Beckovitch, a loyal friend, checked in on him often.

He was preceded in death by his parents,  Ray and Peggy Peterson. He is survived by two sisters. Carolyn Reed and Cheryl Lotridge.

Marty had a terrific sense of humor and lived to make people laugh. =
