Martha Ramona Burroughs (born: Maria Marta Ramoncita Martinez) passed away on September 17, 2015 after a lengthy period of declining health. She was loved and cherished by a close extended family and many lifelong friends.

Born on January 11, 1934 in Capulin, Colorado Martha was the fifth child of Jose Damacio Martinez and Rosana Cantu. She was raised in Colorado until an early age when her father died and her family moved to Acequia, Idaho and then Twin Falls, Idaho where she was schooled and married John Horejs in 1954. They settled in Boise and had two children (Michael and Rosemarie, who survive) and she was widowed in 1960. She married Norman T. (Mike) Burroughs in 1965 and they had one child, (Marta, who survives).

Mike and Martha opened Capital Car Stereo at 17 th & State, in Boise in 1965 and later established Capital Sports Sales on West State Street. Martha was a vital partner in the family stores and held a key role in their success.  They sold their businesses and retired in 1978 and spent many years traveling, at leisure and enjoying their children and grandchildren. Mike Burroughs died in 2013.

Martha is survived by her three children, Michael (Ann Horejs), Rosemarie (John Painter) and Marta (Jeffery Nelson), five grandchildren, Stephanie, Angela, Andrew, Austin (passed away in 2014), Nicholas and Allison, two great grandchildren, Joanna and Jude, two siblings, Rita Woodall and Frank Garcia and multiple nephews and nieces.


The family chooses to waive a formal funeral service and elects to gather, at a later date, for a private memorial. Many thanks to the kind and compassionate care providers at Willow Park Assisted Living, Applewood Assisted Living and Saint Lukes Hospice.
