Mark Allen Friend

Mark Allen Friend, 72 passed away on July 20, 2026 in Meridian where he was residing. Mark was born July 16, 1954 in Boise, Idaho. He was the only child of Lyndon and Dorothy Friend.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at the Cathedral of the Rockies, under the direction of Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel.

Mark was a native of Idaho and lived in his family home all of his life before becoming ill. He attended Koelsch Elementary, West Junior High, and graduated from Capital High School. He attended Boise State University and earned an Associate Degree in Science in 1980. Mark found a passion for elementary education. He volunteered and worked in several of the elementary schools in the valley for may years. He also spent a great deal of time working with the Boise Elementary Choir which fostered the love of music in many young students. Mark enjoyed all of the students that he had an opportunity to interact with.

Mark spent his entire life enjoying Boise and everything it had to offer. As a child he spent time at the family cabin in Cascade where they enjoyed the outdoors. Every year he attended Camp Rainbow which was a highlight of his younger years. The family went on many trips to the beloved Oregon Coast. Mark always had a green thumb. His yard was full of beautiful flowers and had a garden full of nice produce. The yard became one of his passions in life. Mark was very aware of the many events that happened in Boise. He delighted in the parades, fireworks, Christmas activities, Saturday markets, music concerts and much more. He loved his friends and family. He always sent them cards for the holidays or to cheer them up. Mark lived his life with faith, determination, kindness and a good heart. He was a member of the Cathedral of the Rockies where he truly found a special church home.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Lyndon and Dorothy Friend. Survivors include several cousins.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Idaho Humane Society in memory of his little dog Clancy. On behalf of our family, we would like to sincerely thank Mark’s friends for their friendship and support. You meant so much to him.
