Lorraine Bowman went peacefully into the arms of her Heavenly Father at her home in Boise, Idaho, on Sunday, June 15, 2025, after a long battle with dementia. Lorraine was born in Boise, Idaho on October 28, 1938, the daughter of the late Warren and Mildred Atkinson.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Mildred Atkinson, as well as her brothers Weldon and Milton Atkinson and her sister-in-law Hope Atkinson.
Lorraine is survived by her husband William Stanley Bowman, her daughter Lori Bowman Rodenspiel, her son-in-law Brian Rodenspiel, her sister-in-law Darlene Atkinson as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Lorraine graduated from Meridian High School in 1957. She attended Boise Junior College, graduating with an Associate of Arts degree in 1959. She also graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Idaho in 1964.
She moved to Oxnard, California to teach and while there, she met the love of her life William Stanely Bowman. They were married on August 22, 1964, and shortly after, moved to Valdosta, Georgia where Lorraine taught elementary school and gave birth to her daughter Lori in June of 1967. They moved back to Boise, Idaho in June of 1970.
During her life Lorraine enjoyed attending Bible Study Fellowship and then later, the women’s ministry group at Boise Valley Christian Communion. She was a prayer warrior, praying for many in the church congregation as well as others. Lorraine loved to serve the Lord by serving those in need and bringing them under her wings.
Lorraine loved to sing and while at Boise Junior College she sang in a competitive choir. Most of all she loved to worship the Lord, singing in the church choir at First Presbyterian Church in downtown Boise, Idaho and then at Discovery Church. She had an angelic voice, and it was a joy to hear her sing every Sunday, as well as at home, where she also played the piano while worshipping the Lord.
Lorraine took great pride in being not only a wonderful homemaker but a prolific gardener as well. She was awarded the coveted neighborhood Golden Sprinkler Award for having the loveliest yard. Lorraine was also a very gracious hostess, hosting many dinners with family and friends, and throwing many a bridal shower at her home for young women in her church.
Although Lorraine’s physical presence may no longer grace our lives, her spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us. May her memory be a blessing, and may we carry forth her legacy of love and compassion in all that we do.
The family will have a graveside service at Cloverdale Cemetery on Monday, June 23rd, at 11:00, followed by a celebration of life at 1:00 at Discovery Church, 1177 N Roosevelt St, Boise, ID 83706.
