Lloyd Lawrence

January 25, 1945 — January 1, 2026

Lloyd Ray Lawrence entered the arms of Jesus on January 1, 2026 , in Boise under the care of Idaho Hospice Family. Lloyd was born on January 25, 1945 in his grandparent’s home in Bloomfield, MO. to Charles R and Ora K (Simmons) Lawrence. He moved to Idaho as a child and lived in Featherville, Emmett, and eventually settled in Boise. He loved the mountains and elk hunting. He was the “world’s greatest elk hunter” and enjoyed many hunting trips in “the hole.”

He graduated from Boise High School in 1963 and attended Boise State Junior College.

He joined the Navy in 1966 to pay for his college education and served during the Vietnam War. He always said if you want to see the world, join the Navy. He just didn’t realize it was three-fourths water.

He graduated with a Masters degree from San Diego State.

He worked as a CPA for Bon Marche, Hessing Motors and as the Controller of Idaho Peterbilt before retiring in August 2001. He did taxes for numerous people, even into 2025.

His love of music started at an early age because of numerous trips between Idaho and Missouri. The family would sing southern gospel songs, which was his favorite music to the end. He lead worship for several churches through the years, and would even break out in song in his hospital bed.

He loved sports. He looked forward every year to watching NCAA March Madness and hosted a bracket every year since the 1990’s. The St Louis Cardinals was his favorite team because you can take the boy out of Missouri, but not Missouri out of the boy. He had many bowling trophies and joined leagues with his brother Jim and later his son Shane.

He married Karen (Hasselbring) Lawrence in 1971 and Terry (Moss) Lawrence in 2002.

In 2005 Lloyd and Terry built their home in Featherville and stayed until 2019 when his health required easier access to the VA doctors.

Many thanks to the nursing staff at the VA ICU and CLC and then Idaho Hospice Family for his end of life care,

Desiree (Lawrence) and Scott Whittaker of Lewiston; Shane and Lisa Lawrence of Eagle; Amanda Lawrence of Lewiston; Logan and Kaley Lawrence of Boise; Lilly Lawrence of Eagle and Robert and Catherine Lawrence of Boise.
