Linda Mae Ryals Ropp

Born in St. Luke’s hospital on March 11th, 1943 to Carl and Betty Ryals and grew up in Boise, ID with her two brothers Gary and Larry Dean.  She graduated from Boise high in 1961.  Her best friend Donna affectionately nicknamed her Riley Mae.  Linda loved acting in plays and enjoyed her home economics class where she often save baked goods and give them to Donna in between classes.  In October of 1963, Linda married Ken Compton and they had three kids; Dawn Marie, John Carl and Chandelle Lynn.  Life was filled with flying, motorcycling, camping, sewing, and various arts and crafts where she excelled.

In 1983 she divorced Ken and in 1993 married Virgil Ropp.  A Brady Bunch affair, Virgil’s three kids, Bryan, Jason and Elizabeth and Linda’s three kids became a huge family.  There have been on many adventures to include RV trips and many tailgating parties for BSU football games. Virgil and Linda established a thriving business, Treasure Valley Doors and have worked hard creating a local business with a culture that cares about the customers and employees.  In between all this she started quilting and became an expert in the craft.  No one knows exactly how many quilts she has sewn, but it’s safe to say every family member has at least three.  She was also involved with her wonderful Red Hat Ladies and their monthly get together and overall shenanigans. Over the years the two have welcomed and fiercely loved 17 grandkids and 8 great grandkids.  There have been many football, baseball, soccer games, graduations and weddings along the way.  These two have truly lived a full life.

Our Mom was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in May of 2021 and she fought this beast with everything she had with her beloved Virgil and this huge family by her side.  She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Gary, daughters Elizabeth and Chandelle.

Linda has affected everyone she met and has a reputation of being compassionate, caring, forgiving, generous and loving.  Linda Ropp will be missed by everyone she called family and friend.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 20, 2023 at the Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel.
