Linda Alice Smith Dotson passed away peacefully on March 30th, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of perseverance, artistry, and enduring love.
She was born in 1950 to Dorla Jean Enger and Melvin David Smith, the eldest of four children. She spent her childhood in Dry Creek, Idaho, where she developed an early love for horses and the joy of ice skating in the Idaho winters. Those early years shaped an appreciation for beauty and inspired creativity that would remain with her throughout her life.
She graduated from Capital High School in Boise, Idaho in 1968. In 1975, she married Daniel Dee Dotson, with whom she shared two children and many meaningful years building a life centered on family.
She found joy in creativity and storytelling, whether through sewing, quilting, drawing, or losing herself in the pages of a good book. She was a devoted fan of John Wayne films and appreciated stories that reflected grit, character, and quiet strength, qualities she embodied herself.
Diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis at a relatively young age, she faced ongoing health challenges with remarkable resilience. She never allowed her diagnosis to define her or limit her ability to create, care for others, and remain engaged in the things she loved. Her strength, perseverance, and spirit inspired those around her and earned the deep admiration of family and friends.
She will be remembered for her sharp wit, her determination, and the steady example she set in meeting life’s challenges with courage and grace.
She is survived by her children, Brian and Nicholas, grandchildren, Wyatt, Elizabeth, and Mason, siblings, David Ruthie, and Ingard, and many loved ones who will continue to carry forward her legacy.
Her life was a testament to resilience and enduring love. She will be deeply missed.
