Jose Sales Dueno Jr.

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Jose Sales Dueno Jr., who passed away on June 1st, 2025, at the age of 73 in Iloilo City Proper, Philippines. Born on December 10th and raised in the Philippines to Jose Dueno Sr. and Liberty Sales, he was the third of eight siblings and was raised in a close-knit, loving family. Prior to his passing, he was residing in Boise, Idaho with his wife, Vicki.

Jose immigrated to the United States in 1973 and became a naturalized citizen in 1975. He married his wife Vicki Hibner in Florida in January of 1974. Together, they built a beautiful life and were blessed with four children - Jeremy Shanahan, Joseph Samuel, Jenny Alberta (who preceded him in death), and Julie Allison.

A proud veteran, Jose enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, where he studied avionics and served his country with distinction for over 25 years, including time in the Air National Guard [1] [2] [3] and being deployed in Operation Desert Storm and Operation Desert Shield. After his military service, he continued his work in aviation with the Federal Aviation Administration (over 45 years) [4] and United Airlines, retiring in 2023.

Jose was known for his deep love of family, a strong work ethic, and a sense of humor that could brighten any room. He found joy in fishing, a lucky hand, and the loyal companionship of his two dogs.

He is survived by his wife of over 51 years, Vicki; his children Jeremy, Joseph, and Julie; 15 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He also leaves behind a large extended family and countless friends who cherished him.

A viewing will be held on June 17th at 10:00 AM at Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel, 5400 W Fairview Ave, Boise, ID 83706. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 AM at the same location. A Celebration of Life will be held afterward at 12:30 PM at 127 Saloon, 127 E Idaho St, Meridian, ID 83642. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jose’s life. The family will be wearing white in honor of Filipino traditions.

Jose will be remembered for his dedication, warmth, and the love he shared so freely with those around him. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, service, and enduring love.
