James Bowers

James Lewis Bowers, 65, of Nampa Idaho passed away peacefully at his home on June 29, 2026, with his faithful wife of 42 years by his side.

Born September 11, 1960, in Caldwell, Idaho, James was the son of Junior and Lois Bowers and spent his entire life living in Idaho.

James is survived by his wife, Kym Bowers; his children; Brianne (Chris) Thelander, Mark, Kevin, Lily (Talon) Sudbeck and his cherished grandchildren; Cheyenne, Denten, Alexis, Gage, Julian, Chase, Isiah, Demyri, Eli, Elodie, and Riley. He is also survived by his siblings Kathy Herron, Rita (Marty) Milburn, Lola (Kevin Henman), Nina Eells, Lana (Wyet) Rossiter, Charlie (Starla) Bowers and his sister in-laws Kathy Bowers, Sheri Bowers and Amanda Jerome.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Andy Bowers, his grandson, Wyet Wright; his siblings Corwin, Erwin, (Sheri), Rhonda, Russel, George and brothers in law, Joel (Herron), Mike (Morris), and Shannon Eells.

Retired after 29 years with the Overhead Door Company in Nampa, ID, he was a member of the Followers of Christ church and maintained a deep, private relationship with God.

He always felt his best when he was in the mountains. The camping trips with his friends, family and brethren brought him joy and he looked forward to them every year. He loved classic westerns and tinkering on his continual projects. He and Kym raised their family in Marsing where he cared for his animals, hay field and pasture while demonstrating to them the values of hard work, self-reliance, and how to provide.

He could fix just about anything. If something seemed beyond repair, he was the person we all called. With his mechanical mind, he almost always found a solution. He had a lifelong fascination with understanding how things worked. He seemed to know a little about everything, and everything about a few things.

While James preferred the comfort of home or the peace of camping in the mountains, he was lovingly dragged along on many cross-country trips by Kym. He always began each trip with a little reluctance, agreeing only because he knew it made her happy. Before long, though, he found himself enjoying the adventure. These travels became a meaningful part of their life together and have left her with memories she will treasure.

James shined when he was with his grandchildren, he loved making them feel happy and safe. The love he had for each one was immeasurable, and they were a great joy in his life. He leaves behind for them a legacy of hard work, quiet faith, practical wisdom and unwavering dependability.

A simple graveside service to lay James to rest will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, July 3rd, 2026, at Marsing Homedale Cemetery. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude for all the prayers, love and support they have received, it is a beautiful thing, and they are humbled by it.
