Imogene "Jeanie" Mowery

Imogene "Jeanie" Elaine (Zehr) Mowery entered into the loving care of the Lord on May 21, 2026, at Arbor Valley of Cascadia Care Center of Boise, ID. Jeanie was born on July 11, 1945, in Ft. Dodge, Iowa, to Elmer and Alta (Zimmerman) Zehr and was raised in Manson, Iowa on her parent's farm. After graduating from high school in Manson, she went on to attend Goshen College in Goshen, Indiana and Northwest Nazarene College in Nampa, ID where she obtained a degree in Elementary Education. While at NNC, she met the love of her life, John Mowery, whom she married in December of 1967. Together, they moved to Turlock, CA where they taught school for several years before starting their family and moving back to Nampa.

Jeanie decided to stay home raising her young children for several years before moving into retail, working at Karcher Mall in Nampa for 25 years. While working at the Bon Marche and eventually Macy's, she was beloved by many for her bright smile and warmth, extending graciousness to everyone, regardless. She loved people and getting the opportunity to lift others up and brighten their day.

After moving to Boise and entering retirement, she devoted her time to being a grandma. Mom wasn't afraid to get a face full of makeup from a three-year-old or crawl under the table to hide with her grandsons. Her home was the favorite stopping spot for the neighborhood children to trick or treat. In her spare time, she loved to fill her yard full of flowers and speed read through a stack of library books in a week. She was creative and talented, with a beautiful voice and could draw the cutest bunnies for her grandchildren.

In 2022, Mom began experiencing significant physical health issues eventually leading to dementia and a serious hip fracture this last January. Mom's health declined rapidly afterward, and she was no longer able to be cared for at home. The family is grateful to the entire staff at Arbor Valley of Cascadia who worked so hard to care for her and her unique needs over the last few months.

We are so grateful that she is now made well in the mercy and grace of her Savior.

Mom is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Gerald.

She is survived by John, her husband of 58 years; her daughter Nikki (Bryan); son Jon; and her grandchildren Isaac, Elijah, and Greta; sister Geraldine; and sister Betty.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 29 at 4:00 pm at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Caldwell, ID with services under the direction of Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel of Boise.
