Ilene Simpson Ross passed away on September 8, 2015 at the age of 95. She was born March 19, 1920 at Esbon, Kansas to parents Nial D. and Minerva E. Simpson.  She was the youngest of 7 children.  At about 1 year of age the family moved to Cedaredge, Colorado and at age 15 they moved to Vale, Oregon, where she graduated from Vale Union High School.  After that she attended Boise Business University in Boise, Idaho.  She  lived in Boise ever since.

In 1941, Ilene married Homer R. Ross from Weiser, Idaho and to that union 2 daughters were born - Linda Kay in 1947 and Diane Fay in 1950.  She worked many years for Pacific Finance Corporation, then for the State of Idaho, retiring in 1981.

During the years her girls were growing up, she was active in P.T.A., Girl Scouts, and 4-H. She was a member of Whitney Methodist Church, Daughters of the Nile, Nile Royal Club, Cole Extension Club, and Shrine Honored Ladies.

Her great love was for her family. She also enjoyed the mountains and spent many happy times at their cabins in Idaho City and Donnelly with family and friends.

She and Homer retired early and traveled many places, both in the U.S. and abroad until his death in 1996. She was also preceded in death by her parents, all of her sisters and brothers and her daughter, Diane Duncan.  Surviving family include daughter Linda K. Thompson as well as grandsons James R. Thompson (Jennifer) and David E. Duncan (Andrea), granddaughter Heather I. LeCedre and five great grand children.


Funeral services will be on Saturday, September 12 at 12:30 p.m. at Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel.  Internment will follow at Cloverdale Cemetery
