1928 – 2024

Boise, Idaho – Harvey Dale Dorman was an incredibly blessed man. He was literally surrounded by a few of his most treasured family members when he passed away on April 28, 2024, with Jesus in his heart.  He was born on April 24, 1928, to James Estes Dorman and Ilena Mae (Johnson) Dorman in Jerome, Idaho.

Harvey’s first love was his horse, Diamond, they were inseparable as youngsters, he even rode Diamond through the hallway at his school. He missed school for a couple of weeks after because the horse left a surprise for the teachers on the floor.

He married His lifelong love, Maxine Miller on September 6, 1947, in Elko, Nevada, then resided in Jerome, Idaho until 1963.  They were married for 74 years, had four children from 1949 through 1961. They relocated to Redmond, Oregon in 1963 where Harvey worked for Ideal Gas and in 1967, he transferred to Meridian.

In 1968, Harvey moved to Boise where he farmed and raised range cattle until 1972. Then they moved to the house he resided in for the rest of his life. He drove truck for 32 years and also had his own truck washing business.

Harvey always provided for his family and did so without ever being on welfare. He was a firm believer that a man should work, if at all possible and he was proud that he never needed government assistance. And if anyone was visiting when dinner happened, they ate. No one went hungry in Harvey’s house.

Passions of Harvey’s included Baking, making windchimes, birdhouses, yard art, gardening, reading, playing cards, watching baseball, and spending time with his family and with his great friend and neighbor, Bruce Jensen, who he loved like a son.

In the early 80’s, Harvey became a member of the Caldwell Elk’s Lodge. He loved to take his wife, Maxine, to the lodge to go dancing.

He had a unique sense of humor like no one else. He loved to laugh and make others laugh too.

Harvey gave himself fully to his family and gave love freely with no expectations of anything in return. Harvey was bigger than life and his friends and family will miss him greatly.

Harvey is survived by his daughters, Linda Rudisill (Merlin, Oregon) and Debra Dorman Tolhurst, (Boise, Idaho) and his son, John Estes Dorman, (Boise), 7 grandchildren 11 great grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter. Also, numerous nephews, nieces, and some really great friends as well as His brother, Jim (Bev) Dorman of Brookfield,  Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his wife Maxine, son Timmy Dorman, both parents and grandparents (Ethel and Omer) his brothers Johnny, Larry and Danny Dorman.
