Harley was born in Iowa, the first child of Harley M. and LuLu Fitch, who later migrated to California during The Great Depression. After High School, he joined the Air Force, serving in France and Germany. He joined the Modesto, ca. Police Dept. and later served as a California Highway Patrolman. While he was working and raising 2 daughters, he earned a BA degree in Law Enforcement and Sociology. During retirement he served as a missionary volunteer with Mexican Medical Ministries and in Belgium and France with BLF (Bibles and Literature in French.) 2009 brought him to the Boise area for more expertise medical care of his lung disease Pulmonary Fibrosis and Scleroderma of the lung. He was an active member of Meridian First Baptist Church.

He is survived by his Wife, Catherine; daughters, Andrea Jewell and Corrine Hutchins; 1 brother, Gail; 5 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter; 1 uncle; and some cousins.

Thank you to the physicians and staff of St. Luke’s, Meridian for the compassionate and professional care during his recent illness and to all of his physicians who worked hard to give him quality care. He will be missed.
His body will be donated to Oregon Health Sciences University for study by medical personnel.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at the Meridian First Baptist Church, 428 West Pine Avenue, Meridian, ID 83642. Local arrangements are under the direction of the Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel.
