Gerry Dean Moser, Age 83, retired agent for Union Pacific Railroad, died February 19, 2011 in Boise, Idaho. He retired July 1, 1987 after 44 years of service. He was also a retired Broadcast Engineer, working with KEST, KIDO, KGEM and KATN. He was born to Andy Lee and Mildred Ethyl Moser.

He was born in the UP Agents Quarters of the depot at Camas, Idaho, May 14, 1927. With the exception of service with the U.S. Navy as a radio operator during WW2, he spent his entire working life on the railroad being the last employee to lock the door at the Boise Depot in 1971. He retired as the Agent in Emmett, Idaho. He was a life member of Disabled American Veterans and the Brotherhood of Railway and Airline Clerks. He belonged to the American Radio Relay League. His ham radio call was W7PCP.

He was a member of the Hailey Lodge #16 AF & AM, the Scottish Rite Bodies and the El Korah Shrine Temple, where he was a past president of the Black Light Patrol. He was also an active member of the National Model Railroad Association.

Gerry was past president of the Travelin’ Hams RV Club and he and his wife Betty belonged to the Wheel & Deal and Capital Squares Square Dance clubs.

He married Dorothy McDonald in 1946, they were later divorced. He married Betty Jean Davison in 1971. For the last six years, his constant companion, Melva Mattson, brought much joy to his life and put the sparkle back into his eyes.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty and his grandson, Brian Green.

He is survived by his daughters Deneille Green, Dian Liles, Andee Moser, and son Erik Moser, (Theresa), all of Boise, a step daughter Debra Carter of Eugene, Oregon, 10 grandchildren and 6 great grand-children.

A Memorial Celebration will be held at the Boise Train Depot, 3200 Eastover Terrace, at 12:00 noon, Friday, March 4, 2011.
