George R. Black

George Russell Black, 63, of Caldwell, Idaho, died Tuesday, December 5th, 2023. A celebration and remembrance of George’s life will be held Saturday, December 16th, at 11 a.m. at Crossroads Community Church in Nampa, Idaho.

Pastor Jim Halbert of Crossroads Community Church and George’s brother-in-law, Jeremy Graves, will officiate. Services are under the direction of Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel.

George was born November 28, 1960, in Boise, Idaho, to Donald (Duff) Black and Verna Lea (Morris) Black. He grew up in Boise, attending and graduating from Boise High School in 1979. In the summer of 1979, George began Air Force basic training. He married Niki Linderer in Boise on March 22nd, 1980. George, Niki, and their growing family lived in several places including Boise, Nampa, Mountain Home, and Tacoma, Washington before moving back to Nampa where they resided for the next twenty-three years. For the past seven years, Niki and George have lived on a small acreage in Caldwell, enjoying farm life and tending to their small herd of Dexter cows.

George’s work history began early on at his dad’s service station in Boise’s north end until he decided to work full time with the Air National Guard. He left the Guard and went to work at Micron, and was later employed by Scentsy. He then took a building maintenance job at Crossroads Community Church. His hobbies included motorcycle riding, shortwave radio, farming, and small engine repair. George’s ability to fix small engines led him to start a business called “Scooter’s,” repairing everything from lawn mowers to snow removers.

Survivors include his wife, Niki (Linderer) Black of Caldwell; daughter, Heather Black of Caldwell; son, Philip Black and his wife, Tarah, of Meridian; son Christopher Black and his wife, Amy, of Boise; sister, Nancy (Black) Cullen and her husband, E. C., of Meridian; sister, Mary (Black)  Jensen of Boise; sister-in-law, Roberta Black of Steilacoom, WA; four grandchildren, Aadyn Black, Drayton Black, Alexis Black, and Luke Black; three nieces, and one nephew. George was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jerry Black.

Memorials are suggested to the Idaho Food Bank.
