Evan Eugene Chambers, 79, of Boise, Idaho passed away on December 23, 2025 with his wife and daughter by his side. On that day, Evan’s soul left his earthly body to begin his next adventure, carried forward by a life well lived, deeply loved, and grounded in faith.
Evan was born on June 4, 1946, in McCook, Nebraska, to Laurel Keith Chambers and Anne Lucile (Roberts) Chambers. He spent his early years in Westminster, Colorado where he graduated from Westminster High School in 1964. Evan later earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from Colorado State University, where he studied a bit of what could jokingly be referred to as “Campusology,” formed lifelong friendships in the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and bartended at the Charco Broiler.
In 1969 Evan married Anne Atkinson. A few years later while Evan was working for Texaco, the couple moved to Boise, Idaho where in 1976 they welcomed their daughter, Kacie, the apple of Evan’s eye. Though their marriage ended in divorce, they remained good friends and co-parented with care, respect, and cooperation. After leaving Texaco, Evan built a 35-year career in real estate where he skillfully navigated the ups and downs of an ever-fluctuating market. Through perseverance, honesty, and humor, he helped countless families find homes and formed lasting friendships with clients and colleagues along the way.
After a brief second marriage, Evan found both friendship and enduring love with Nina (Dilley) Chambers. Best friends from the beginning, they married in 1990 and shared 35 wonderful years together. Together, Evan and Nina delighted in simple joys—holding hands, cuddling, attending performances at the Morrison Center, and sharing romantic evenings out to dinner or quietly at home. They were also blessed to travel frequently with favorite destinations that included Spain, Portugal, Mexico, and Hawaii, along with many other memorable adventures filled with laughter and discovery.
A true Renaissance man, Evan possessed many talents and interests. He was a master woodworker, able to transform simple lumber into creations both beautiful and enduring. His work included small, intricate recipe boxes to large, sturdy desks and coffee tables built to last for generations. Like many craftsmen, when frustrated in the workshop, a few well-chosen expletives might be heard, but Evan’s determination always carried him through. One of his most ambitious projects was converting a 1948 Ford sedan into a handcrafted “Woodie,” where he designed patterns, cut, finished, and attached every wooden piece himself. Though he never completed the car, his craftsmanship lives on—visible in the homes of family and friends, at Southminster Presbyterian Church, and at the local YMCA.
Music was another lifelong passion. After playing trumpet in high school, Evan returned to the instrument in his late 60s, performing at his beloved church, with a local community band, and even in the homes of friends—where one could often see him tapping his toes to the beat as he played. In doing so, he reminded everyone around him that it is never too late to return to what you love. Evan also had a deep affection for classic cars, especially his beloved ’57 Chevy which he proudly displayed at summer car shows. Many Father’s Days were joyfully spent with Kacie and family at the annual Father’s Day Car Show in downtown Boise.
Evan especially cherished time at the family cabin in McCall where he and Nina built a close-knit community of friends. They could often be found laughing at the local coffee shop, enjoying days on the lake, hiking, biking, golfing, or simply taking in the fresh air. Those moments have become treasured memories with family and friends as the outdoors was where Evan could truly relax, reflect, and find peace.
Evan’s enduring faith was a guiding light throughout his life. It inspired his kindness, his devotion to family, and his joy in simple pleasures. His life reflected a steady trust in God and a commitment to living with integrity, compassion, and love. Above all, Evan loved his family, and they adored him. He is survived by his wife, Nina Chambers; his daughter, Kacie (Travis) Blake; his sister, Kathy (Rick) Parrish; his grandsons, Beau Zillner and Corbin Blake; and his nieces, Laurie Parris and Amy Kennedy.
Evan will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for the kind, gentle, and steady presence he offered to all who knew him. May his memory bring comfort, smiles, and a reminder to keep building, keep playing, stay connected to nature, treasure time spent with loved ones, and live a life of faith, hope, and love.
