Eric Francis Holt

Eric Francis Holt, age 92, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2026 in Boise, Idaho.

Eric was born on October 7, 1933, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to William Francis Holt and Irma Erekson Holt. He was the second of thirteen children. As a teenager, he worked on the Erekson ranch. He graduated from East High School in 1951.

Eric married Marlene Elsa Glissmeyer on January 23, 1954. He attended the University of Utah and received his medical degree with honors in 1962, followed by an internship at Holy Cross Hospital. During this time, he and Marlene had three children: Kristy, Steven, and David. After he completed his internship in 1963, they moved to Palo Alto, California; Blackfoot, Idaho; and San Mateo, California for his medical externships and residencies which included Stanford University Hospital. The family made their final move to Boise, Idaho in 1968 when he set up his psychiatric practice. In 1971, their son Jason was born.

Eric belonged to numerous medical and psychiatric associations. He was board certified by the American College of Forensic Examiners and the American College of Medical Examiners. He enjoyed hunting, skiing, boating in McCall, spending time with his family, and traveling with Marlene on many cruises.

Eric is survived by his wife Marlene; his children: Kristy (David) Powell, Steven (Nancy) Holt, David (Ines) Holt, and Jason Holt; his grandchildren: Jennifer, Justin, and Michael Powell; Toni Carles; and Marlee and Steven Holt; and his great-grandchildren: Audra, Sierra, and Kristina Carles; and Nolan and Parker Powell. He is also survived by his brothers Mark, Todd, Lynn, and Tim, and his sisters Karma and Yvonne. He was preceded in death by his brothers Bill, George, Don, and Dwight, and his sisters Marlise and Kalma.

The funeral service will be on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at 11 a.m. at Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel, 5400 West Fairview Avenue in Boise, Idaho.
