Emil Beguhl



Emil Beguhl was born to Herman and Edith Beguhl in Dupree, South Dakota on October 22, 1922. T h e family moved to the Caldwell, Idaho area in the 1930's. After being a student in the Caldwell schools, Emil attended Baker's School in Portland, Oregon and served as a baker on several ships while enlisted in the Merchant Marines from 1941-46. He worked for 10 years at Dairymen's in Caldwel l and later moved his family to Bo i se where he had a 30 year career with Pacific Trailways .

Emil married Shirley Smith in Adrian, Oregon on July 15, 1950 . Love for family was paramount in Emil's life. His advice and guidance to his children and grandchildren was always given with love, support and encouragement . The positive influence he had on the lives of others was one of his greatest gifts. He taught by example and instilled a strong work ethic in his children and grandsons. Emil had a very special relationship with his son-in-law, Herb . Every year he looked forward to spending quality time with Herb and Jim at the family cabin on Flathead Lake-working, planning a n d enjoying the beauty of Montana. H is smile brightened many of our days. Emil took great pride in h i s h ome and yard. He walked miles arou n d Boise and loved baking donuts and making homemade ice cream to share with his family and friends.

Emil is survived his wife, Shirley, two children , Lynne E k strom (Herb) of Bend, Oregon and Jim of Columbus, Indiana; grandsons, Jason (Lisa) and Erik; his sister, Mildred Pinaire; brothers, Dean Beguhl and Fred Beguhl; sister-in-law, Rita Beguhl; four great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Evelyn, Herman, Marvin, Leroy and Kenny.

Emil was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran C h urch in Boise and for many years was involved with the Dairymen's and MCE C r edit Union.

T h e family would like to express their gra t itude to Assisting Angels, caregiver Bette Newborn and E n compass Hospice for their wonderful care of our husband, father and grandfather.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Emil's memory to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church 5009 Cassia, Bo i se, ID 83705.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Dry Creek Cemetery, under the direction of the Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel. A memorial service will follow at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church at 12:00 p.m.
