Elsie Irene Thompson passed away October 12, 2017 at 93 years of age. She lived a full life
filled with faith in God and the joy of a loving extended family and many friends.
Elsie was born to Grace and Ted Farr in Albion, Washington on March 31, 1924. The family
moved to Uniontown, Washington where Elsie attended grade school. She attended high school in Pullman Washington and also attended classes at Washington State College. Elsie had one older brother, Caswell Farr (deceased) and one younger brother, Wallace Farr of Walla Walla, Washington.
After knowing one another as classmates at Pullman High School and after a long distance
courtship because of World War II, Elsie married Harold Thompson on June 30, 1946 in
Uniontown, Washington. They lived in Pullman, Washington while Harold attended college and
then moved to Spokane, Washington for two years. In 1951 they moved to Boise, Idaho where Harold and Elsie raised their family at 416 N Cole Road. Harold died suddenly in 1977 from a heart attack. In 2002, Elsie moved to Walla Walla, Washington. In 2013 she moved back to the the Boise Valley where she enjoyed the loving care of her daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Gary Vance, granddaughter Shauna Matthews and great-granddaughters, Elisabeth and Esther in their Meridian Idaho home.
On April 2, 1950 Elsie made the most important choice of her life when she chose to follow the
teachings of Jesus found in the New Testament. This choice shaped her life and and brought her unspeakable joy and “peace that passeth all understanding” for the rest of her life. She has gifted her family a legacy of unwavering zeal for simple truth uncluttered by human intellect and tradition.
Four children were born to Harold and Elsie Thompson. They are Ingrid and husband Doug
Corcoran of Oregon City, Oregon, Hal and wife Judy Thompson of Worley, Idaho, Bonnie and husband Gary Vance of Meridian, Idaho and Anita Thompson of Tualatin, Oregon.
Elsie loved all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren and was interested in each one.
They are Shauna Matthews and her daughters, Elisabeth and Esther, Shereen and husband Craig Benjamin and their children, Allen and Lisi, Scott and wife Mandy Thompson and their sons, Justin and Tyrel, David and wife Andrea Vance and their children, Caleb and Hannah, Truitt and wife Heidi Vance and their children Graciela, Lucas and Liliana, Bradley and wife Sandra Corcoran and their children Kasaundra (deceased), Braydon and Zackery, Abe and wife Amy Vance and their children Emily and Anna, Ben and wife Carissa Vance and their children Andrew and Devin.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 14, 2017 in the Alden-Waggoner Funeral
Chapel, 5400 W Fairview Ave., Boise, ID 83876 with a catered lunch immediately after the service at the Cloverdale Reception Center, 1200 N Cloverdale Road, Boise, ID 83713.
Viewing will be from 10 AM to 11 AM before the funeral.
Burial will be Monday at 12 noon in the Cloverdale Cemetery, 1200 N Cloverdale Rd, Boise, ID
83713.
