Boise

On July 10, 2026, Elizabeth Ann Tweedy completed her final journey in life here on earth and joined her Savior in the most precious and grace-filled life everlasting.

Born in Fordyce, Arkansas on August 21, 1939, Ann later relocated with her family to Lewiston, Idaho, where she spent her formative years. After earning her teaching certificate from Lewis-Clark State College, she began her career in Mountain Home, ID. Those early years were shared with her close friend, Dianne Hall, and her beloved Alsatian Shepherd, Tasha.

While in Mountain Home, Ann met and fell in love with Dale Delbert Schick Tweedy. The two were married in 1960, beginning a beautiful 55-year journey together. While the Air Force assigned them to many locations, Ann continued teaching in Abeline, TX and Libby, MT. Following Dale’s medical discharge from the military in 1966, they returned to Lewiston where they served their community as childcare providers for older boys at the North Idaho Children's Home.

Ann later stepped away from teaching to focus on raising her growing family. In 1970, they moved to Boise with two children in tow, soon welcoming their third. Once her children were in school, Ann returned to her own studies earning her bachelor’s degree in teaching from Boise State University.

Upon resuming her career, she discovered her greatest professional joy in the kindergarten classroom. There she touched the lives of countless young learners before retiring in 2006.

Retirement brought many happy years of travel for Ann and Dale. They spent winters in Laughlin, NV, and embarked on several cruises of which Alaska and the Panama Canal remained Ann's favorites. When she wasn’t traveling, Ann was an exceptionally talented crafter. She spent countless hours sewing, quilting, and embroidering beautiful garments, blankets, and quilts for those she loved.

Ann was a member of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church. She deeply cherished the friendships she made while serving on the altar guild, folding bulletins, and participating in Bible studies. Throughout her nearly 87 years of life, there was never any doubt about how deeply Ann loved God, her family, and her community.

Ann is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, LyTina and Doug Rule; her son and daughter-in-law, Dane and Hanna Tweedy; grandchildren Branden Rule and his wife, Eris, and Klaudia Rule-Nulle and her husband, Brandon; great-grandchildren Raylee, Bodi, Mayve, and Myla; and sister Patsy Richel.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dale Tweedy, and her son, Dace Tweedy.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, July 23, 2026 at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, where Ann will be laid to rest alongside her husband. Following the service, family and friends are invited to gather for a Celebration of Life at the home of her daughter. Please contact the family for the address.

We welcome all who knew and loved Ann to join us in celebrating her life and sharing memories about the woman who meant so much to so many.
