Dwayne Spangler

Dwayne Spangler, 88, passed away peacefully at home on February, 2, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.

Dwayne was born May 18, 1928, one of seven children to Earl & Jenny Spangler in Champion, Nebraska. The family relocated to Hammett when Dwayne was a child and he attended school in Glenns Ferry.

As a young adult and father, Dwayne enjoyed the outdoors, camping and fishing with his wife Pat, of 18 years and their five children in the summer, and hunting with his friends and family in the fall and winter while working as an auto body repairman for Paul Parks. In 1969 Dwayne and his twin brother Dwight ventured out on their own and opened Spangler Bros Auto Body which they ran together successfully for years, then selling the business to their sons to keep it in the family.

Dwayne loved cars and one of his favorite hobbies was restoring antique cars.

Dwayne met and married Laura Henderson on June 6, 1969 and that marriage lasted until Laura passed away in 2013. Both had been successful in business and together they enjoyed the fruits of their labor. They enjoyed traveling and spent a good deal of time on the road in a motorhome and then in Quartzite when settling into retirement.

Dwayne was preceded in death by his wife, Laura Spangler, son, Jeff Spangler, and granddaughter, Jessica Clements. Survivors include his children, Steve Thomas, NV, Kathy (Stan) Clements of Payette, Cindy (Dave) Rupe of Kennewick, Dave (Danette) Spangler of Oroville, Ann (Arlin) Gomm of Boise; and stepchildren, Danny (Molly) Henderson of Nampa, Cathy Henderson of Boise, and Jeri (Richard Hedge) Eldredge of Boise, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Dwayne was a man of integrity and never took the easy way out. He instilled that philosophy into his children with one last piece of advice: “Watch out for that other guy”.

A special thanks to Heart & Home Hospice who was by Dwayne’s side the last six months of his life.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, February 10, 2017 at the Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Dry Creek Cemetery, with an additional Celebration of Life to follow. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, Feb. 9th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
