Dustin R. Barton

Dustin Ross Barton went home to be with the Lord on August 3, 2023, after a brief battle with cancer. He was 51.

Born December 1, 1971, to Donna Belle and Edgar Ross Barton, in Ontario, Oregon, he recalled a happy childhood. All boy, he loved to play in the dirt and wasn’t afraid of a little sweat. He was willing to give any sport a try but loved baseball and football most of all.

Growing into adulthood, he learned to play the guitar, joined a band, and lived through the wildest of adventures. He also witnessed the birth of his daughter, Isabelle, and his son, David—both of whom he loved with all his heart. And he began his career in social work.

As the years passed, life began to take on a different hue. He could listen to sermons for hours and loved to talk theology. He met a girl who was certain she’d be single forever—and promptly swept her off her feet. They married November 2, 2017, in the little brick chapel where they first met.

His life was full of the good stuff: home; a goofy little pup; meaningful work; bookshelves filled with books; adventures—big and small; good music; a good cup of tea; college football; family; friends; and a constant need to look out for those overlooked.

He gave freely; he loved well.

Dustin leaves behind his wife and best friend of 6 years, Amy; his daughter, Isabelle; and son, David; his mom and dad; aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends—all of whom are left with the deepest of holes in their hearts.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Whitney Baptist Church, 2309 W Dorian St, Boise, ID 83705.   Burial will follow at Park View Cemetery, New Plymouth, Idaho.
