Dorothy Margaret Fanning Haskins

Dorothy Margaret Fanning Haskins, 88, of Boise, died Monday, November 16, 2015 in Boise.

Dorothy was born on December 22, 1926, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, the daughter of Frederick and Margaret Cowan Fanning.  Dorothy had a twin sister, Louise, who passed in 2013.

Dorothy lived in Montreal until she married Gilbert Leon Haskins, on September 28, 1950 in Montreal.  From this union were born three wonderful sons, Wayne, Steven and David.  They celebrated their 65th anniversary on September 28, 2015.

During the 65 years, Gil and Dorothy enjoyed their travels to Alaska, Scandinavian Cruises, Taiwan, the British Isles and many more trips.  They spent about 18 years enjoying being snowbirds in Arizona where they made many friends.  Dorothy especially loved meeting Canadian snowbirds.

Dorothy worked for the State of Idaho for twenty years, most of the time being at BSU in the library.  She retired in 1988 and Gil followed a few months later.  This gave them many more years to enjoy travel and life together.  Dorothy always felt blessed with her life and family she loved so much.  Her family and friends were her life always.  Dorothy always felt that Gil was her soul mate forever.

She is survived by her husband, Gil of Boise; sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Sue Haskins, N. Las Vegas, Nevada, Steve and Penny Haskins, Cloverdale, Oregon, and Dave and Jeris Haskins, Boise.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Morris Hill Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel, Friday, Nov. 20th from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
