Donald Lee Shearer, 80, died March 13, 2016 with his family by his side. The 4th of 6 boys, Don was born in Boise on 6/29/1935 to Fred C. and Grace L. (Hopson) Shearer. After spending 8 years, 3 months, and 29 days in the Air Force, he joined the Federal Aviation Administration in 1963. He spent 2 years at National Airport in Washington, D.C., 23 years at The Tech Center in Pomona, NJ, and 2 years at the Salt Lake City Airport, Utah. Don retired in 1990 and he and his wife returned to Boise.
He leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Gertrude (Trudy), 4 Children: Dawn Grossman and children Rachael and Ryan, of Egg Harbor Township, NJ, William Shearer of Egg Harbor Township, NJ, Thomas Shearer (Shelley) and children Edin and Andrew, of Kuna, ID, and Kerri May (Donald) and children Elizabeth and Christopher of Upper Township, NJ, and many special nieces and nephews.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents and brothers: Jack, Fred, Duane, Robert and William.
The family would like to thank those who gave him such special care during his prolonged illness.
A memorial service is planned by the family at a future date.
