Debra Ann Resman

Born in Redondo Beach, California, to Leona Carroll and Ancel Banfill, Debra's adventurous spirit and desire emerged early in life. After attending college, she began her career with Hewlett-Packard in Santa Rosa,California. However, eager to see the world she exchanged her job for traveled throughout Europe, an experience that reflected her independence, curiosity of other cultures, and love of new experiences.

Following her travels, Deb landed in Boise, Idaho. On HP's campus she met the love of her life, Mark Resman. They married and shared 40 joyful years together,building a beautiful life in Boise and raising their three wonderful children.

After a very successful career at HP, and after her first son was born, she chose to take the promotion to the“Best Mother in the World”. Staying home to raise the kids, she filled their days with crafts, building snowmen, and outings to the river. Family camping, backpacking expeditions, sailing excursions, and ski trips filled the years Deb and Mark spent raising their children. Debra served as a Girl Scout leader and a Cub Scout Den Mother. The Resmans were active members of Holy Apostles Catholic Church in Boise throughout those years. As the kids grew up, she embraced her entrepreneurial side, starting and managing her own business as a landlord – empathy for her tenants often was prioritized higher than business goals.

In retirement, she and Mark spent five years full-time sailing their 45’ catamaran wherever the winds took them - through the Caribbean, along the New England coast, up to Nova Scotia and as far south as Grenada. They made numerous exciting off-shore crossings between the Chesapeake Bay and the Bahamas. Through it all — even when lightning knocked out the boat's electrical systems, or when a hurricane bore down directly over their mast in the Bahamas — she met every challenge by focusing on the positive and finding the silver lining in the experiences and people around her.

Deb was, above all, defined by her relentless love of life and belief in the worth and goodness of the people and animals around her. She chatted with everyone, striking up conversations wherever she went. She sought to help others and make friends, leaving behind a trail of kindness, caring, a sweet spirit, and mirth.

Deb enjoyed sharing her amazing culinary talents with friends and family alike. Appetizers and meals were often made from scratch. She never needed written recipes — her confections always turned out delicious. Over the years, she embraced her Slovenian mother-in-law's culture, learning to make the beloved poticas, tortas, and strudels that became a fixture at holidays and birthdays. She could whip up a restaurant quality meal in a moment's notice, always filled with flavor and unique spices, and perfectly paired with a fine Pinot Grigio or a newly discovered gin. 

A passion for the natural world permeated Deb’s pastimes. She tended her beautiful gardens and spent countless summer days outside in the fresh air amongst the birds,bees and dragonflies (her favorite!) Deb particularly enjoyed the ocean — its varied marine life, long walks on the beach, rambunctious beach time with the grand-dogs,and relaxing in the sunshine while listening to the soothing sound of the waves. She spent many hours fly fishing for trout in the Idaho mountains and reeling in ahi tuna during long sailing ocean passages, turning her many catches into fresh sushi and lobster feasts. While on their sailing adventure, Deb and Mark spent countless hours snorkeling and scuba diving, mesmerized by gentle sea turtles,majestic eagle rays, and the choreographed movements of squid beneath the water’s surface.She loved nature and relished the time spent with it, so when you see a hummingbird in the sky,a praying mantis on the grass, or a dolphin jumping in the sea, think of Deb! She is probably saying hello.

Deb faced life's toughest moments with grace and compassion and an endless gratitude for those around her. She shared her love generously with everyone blessed to know her. Deb held a deep relationship and trust in God, the saints, her guardian angels and the universe. She was able to find excitement and comfort in her malady knowing that soon she would be reunited with all those who had passed before her.

Debra was preceded in death by her parents and her younger sister, Catherine.

Debra is survived by her husband, Mark Resman; her children, Matthew Resman, Christopher Resman, and Michelle Resman; her grandson, Mason Resman; and her seven remaining siblings.

Debra was most recently a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church. A funeral Mass and Celebration of Life reception will be held at 11 am on August 17, 2026 at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church, Boise.
