Idaho City

It is with heavy hearts that we bid farewell to Dax Olvera, who passed away on April 2, 2024. Born in Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan, Canada, Dax was a man of many passions and a vibrant presence in the lives of those he touched. As a child, he loved playing hockey, football, and baseball. His interest in machinery started with simple screwdrivers to maintaining dirt bikes and snowmobiles then turning into a passion for engineering. Dax had a phenomenal talent for fixing anything!  And, he shared this wisdom with his children.

Dax leaves behind his beloved wife, Jennifer, and their children Ruby, Dax Jr., Rocco, Iris, and Minette. As well as his mother, Bonnie Olvera and brothers, Gavin Olvera and Gino Olvera

Dax received his electronics engineering degree from DeVry University in Calgary, Alberta.  He immediately went to work for Applied Materials.  He worked for Applied Materials for 27 years.  He transferred to Photronics for 1 year and worked for Micron for a short time.

As an avid sports enthusiast, Dax found solace on the hockey rink, where he showcased his skill and dedication to the game. He was a die-hard Boston Bruins fan. Dax’s greatest joy came from spending time with his family; dirt-biking, skiing, hiking and hunting.  He enjoyed sharing his passion with others and dedicated many hours to coaching softball and working on the ball field.  Dax took great pride in dedicating his time to others and volunteering.  Whether he was cheering on his children from the sidelines or exploring the great outdoors, his enthusiasm was contagious, bringing joy to those around him.

Dax's love for his family remained unwavering, and there was nothing that brought him more joy. He took great pride in providing for his family and nurtured a rock-solid family unit that will help carry them through this difficult time.

Dax's vibrant spirit and zest for life were evident in every aspect of his being.  His love for his children and the joy he brought to those around him will be remembered forever. Although our time with him was too short, He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

A celebration of Dax's life will be held on April 14 at the softball field (SH-21 & Park ln, Idaho City)  in Idaho City at 3 pm.  In addition, there will be a viewing on Friday, April 12th from 5:00-7:00 pm at the Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel in Boise. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Dax Olvera Memorial Fund at Idaho Central Credit Union.

May Dax rest in peace, and may his memory continue to bring comfort to those who mourn his loss. Forever remembered, forever loved.
