David L. Ackley

David L. Ackley passed away March 30, 2026. He was born to Leonard and Ruth Ackley in Boise, ID on September 18, 1939. David was the eldest of three, growing up in south Boise spending time with cousins. After high school he joined the Navy where he served his country. He attended Boise Jr. College, Idaho State University as well as Wayne State University in Michigan where he studied law enforcement. He served as a police officer in Detroit, Michigan, before returning to Idaho. David was employed by the Idaho National Guard and retired from that position.

David had many hobbies and interests. He was involved in several groups including the Hell Divers, ski divers and Bogus Basin Ski Patrol. David was an avid traveler. He climbed Mt. Everest. From there he went to ride an elephant in Thailand. Russia was next and then a train ride to China. After all that, David got a job in Antarctica. It was the love of his life. All in all, he led a wonderful life.

David is survived by his daughter Susan, his brother Leonard Dee Ackley (Jane), his sister Rebekah Belloni (Richard), their two children and many cousins.

A memorial will be held at the Smoky Mountain Pizza on Saturday, April 11th at 1:00pm.
