Dale Delbert Schick Tweedy 1938 ~ 2015

On October 29, 2015, Dale Delbert Schick Tweedy completed his final journey in life here on earth and joined his Savior in the most precious and grace-filled life everlasting.

Dale was born September 6, 1938 in Eureka, SD. He joined the Air Force in 1956 and was Staff Sargent until medically discharged in 1966. While stationed in Mountain Home, ID, he fell in love with his wife of 55 years, Ann Barker. After marrying in 1960, they enjoyed time while Dale was posted at the Dyess, Sandia Bay, and Goose Bay Labrador bases. Subsequently, they moved to Lewiston, ID where they were child care workers for the senior boys at the North Idaho Children’s Home. In 1972, Dale received a bachelor of business education from the University of Idaho after which he accepted what turned into a 28 year long position in Boise as Personnel Analyst for the State.

Dale was a powerfully Christian man who always put his faith first. For 25 years he was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where he served as elder and chairman of the congregation and had the privilege of preaching for occasional services. At his time of death, he was a member of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church where he enjoyed singing in the church choir. Dale also loved his children. On any given day he could be found chaperoning a choir trip, planning a graduation party, attending band festivals, or cheering at baseball games. Once his children grew, Dale found pleasure spoiling his grandchildren and ensuring they received that same love and support.

Dale had a passion for music which led him to many singing awards in his teenage years. In addition, he was an avid sports fan and Boise State supporter, providing one of his fondest memories of accompanying the football team to Louisiana Tech.

In his 77 years of life, there was no doubt how much Dale loved God and his family. He is survived by his wife, Ann Tweedy; daughter and son-in-law, Doug and LyTina Rule; son and daughter-in-law, Dane and Hanna Tweedy; and two grandchildren, Branden and Klaudia Rule. He was preceded in death by his son, Dace Tweedy.

Services for Dale will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 3, 2015, at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Boise, with a light lunch following. A committal service with military honors will be at 2:00 p.m. at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery.

“And I will rise when He calls my name. No more sorrow, no more pain. I will rise on eagles’ wings, before my God, fall on my knees. And rise. I will rise.” Chris Tomlin lyrics.
