Cindy Porter, 67, of Star, passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2025 in a local hospital. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025 at 11 a.m. at the Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel, Boise.
Cindy was born on January 20, 1958, in Seattle, WA, to Norman Winchar and Agatha “Penny” (Best) Winchar. She spent her early years in Edmonds, WA, before the family moved to Kendrick, ID in her junior high years. She graduated from Kendrick High School and then went on to attend Boise State University.
She married Rodney “Rod” Porter, on September 11, 1983 in Boise, Idaho. Cindy worked at Brookovers, Jay Jacobs, and Maurices in fashion retail, and then transferred from Retail Clothing to Flooring. She worked at Dillabaughs and Nampa Flooring and was an expert in interior design. Cindy loved Christmas and was very talented in designing and decorating for the holidays. She attended and was active for many years at Central Assembly Church in Boise.
Cindy is survived by her husband Rod of Star, ID; daughter Brooke (Cody) Mennenga of Boise, ID; daughter Neccia Porter of Homer, AK; grandsons Bryson Dorsey and Maverick Mennenga of Boise; her father, Norman Winchar of Marsing, ID; her sister, Deborah Winchar, of Nampa; her brother, Butch (Carla) Winchar of Spokane Valley; and her sister Bridget Lofbom (Sonny) of Calabasas, CA.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Agatha “Penny” Winchar.
