Cornelius Van Inwegen

Kiel passed away on November 21, 2025. He was born in New York on June 17, 1945, the second son of Charles F. and Sally Van Inwegen. During his childhood he lived in many locations, the longest being Crystal Lake, IL, where he graduated from high school.

After graduating from the University of Wyoming, he started his career in the brokerage/investment community in Casper, Wyoming. That career took him to Boise, ID, Colorado Springs, CO, and back to Boise. He ended his 42-year career there with Smith Barney, retiring in 2010.

In 1981, Kiel met and married Gloria and adopted her two sons Patrick and Andy, forming a new family with him and his daughter Meridith. Kiel was a long-time member of the Downtown Boise Rotary Club, a Director of the Ada County Library. He served on the Board of Directors of the Boise Philharmonic, was Chairman of the Idaho Council on Economic Education. He was a National Advisor to the Stock Market Game, and was active with his children in Boy Scouts and soccer. The family enjoyed many happy years at their condo in McCall. After retirement he and Gloria spent every February in La Quinta, CA, enjoying golf with good friends. He also spent happy retirement hours golfing at Hillcrest Country Club, reading, and gardening.

Kiel was preceded in death by his son Patrick and his parents. He is survived by his wife Gloria, children Meridith, Andy (Jackie), daughter-in-law Victoria, brother Peter (Judy), and six grandchildren of whom he was very proud.

A funeral service will be held at 10am on Monday, December 1, 2025, at Cathedral of the Rockies First United Methodist Church in downtown Boise.
