Connie K. Mock

Connie’s journey with cancer ended on 7/7/16.

Who was Connie? She was kind, fair, easy-going, humorous, fun-loving, hardworking and determined. If she set her mind to do something, by gosh she did it. Less than 2 weeks before her death, she participated in the Relay for Life (“I said I was going to do it”). In 1985, she hiked the entire Appalachian trail (all 2,138 miles) in 5 ½ months. She lived life with gusto, always up for a hike, a bike ride, a glass of wine, a trip, watching basketball or football, or a good book. She and Kathy traveled and hiked all over the U.S. and the world. She did not put off to tomorrow what she could do today, as long as it was fun. She was a dedicated Physical Therapist for 45 years, 27 of those at St. Luke’s in Boise. She was a great friend, daughter, sister and boss. She loved her animals. Her particular favorite was Snags, her “adopted” stray calico cat. Connie would be the first to admit that she also had a few not so great traits. She could be a little lazy and a procrastinator, especially when it came to household or yard duties and correspondence. Her favorite sayings were “What the h****”, “It is what it is”, “Life is too short to drink crap wine”, and “Go IU”.

Connie’s life took her from Indiana (where she was born and raised), to Indiana University (from which she graduated), to Colorado, to New Hampshire, and to Idaho (which she considered “home”). She always said that Stanley Basin was the prettiest place on earth.

Left to carry on her legacy: her forever friend and devoted caregiver, Kathy, and their rescued lab, Spencer; mother, Ruth; brother, Jerry; sister-in-law, Donna; nephew (and family), Troy; niece, Lori; and many dear friends including Kim, Barb, Kate, Dana, Deb, Lynn and Sheila. Connie was preceded in death by her father, Loren Mock.

We would like to thank our Meridian MSTI “family” – Dr. Bucur, Kathy, Doreen, the chemo nurses and support staff. There are no words to say what a terrific team you are. You provided superb care with amazing compassion. We also want to thank our friend/neighbor, Sharon, who has been a godsend during this journey.

Please honor Connie by being kind to others and taking time in your day to enjoy a “Happy Hour” and a glass of wine.

There will be a Celebration of Life on Sat. July 16. Contact Alden-Waggoner Funeral Home for details (208-376-5400)

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to 2 of Connie’s favorites: the Idaho Humane Society (www.idahohumanesociety.org) or the Idaho Shakespeare Festival (http://idahoshakespeare.org/).
