Clarence Glen Forrey, 96, passed peacefully into the arms of his Savior on Monday, September 8, 2025 in Boise, Idaho. A celebration of life memorial service will be held at Engage Boise (270 E. Pennsylvania Street in Boise) on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel.
Clarence was born to Leonard and Mabel Forrey on July 28, 1929, on the family farm in Kuna, Idaho and was raised in Nampa, Idaho, along with his older sister, Catherine and younger brother, Dale. As a high school student, Clarence ran many events in Track, specializing in the 220. He set state records, won numerous medals, and earned himself the nickname “Spiderlegs”. As a teenager, he worked on a farm in Melba and later joined the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), spending two summers clearing blister rust in northern Idaho. After graduating from Nampa High School, Clarence worked in a laundry and then was employed by Certified Carpet Cleaners.
Clarence met the love of his life, Marian Joyce Bettis, after a memorable roller skating “accident”, in which she tripped him to catch his attention. They were married on November 2, 1949, at her parents’ farm in Caldwell. In 1959, they settled into their home on Pandora Drive, where they built a life together for 64 years before enjoying retirement living at a senior community in Boise. Clarence and Marian raised four children: Karen Vastardis (Perikles), Karla Bassett (Marty), Steve Forrey (Malora), and Randy Forrey (Brenda). His legacy lives on through eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Clarence founded Clean-Rite Carpet Cleaners in 1959 and spent the next 35 years serving the Treasure Valley, cleaning furniture and carpets with care and dedication. After selling the business, he retired, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and integrity.
Throughout his life, Clarence was an avid outdoorsman, taking every opportunity to hunt or fish with his kids, grandkids, and good friends. He loved nothing more than loading up the car with camping gear, fishing poles, and a can of Dinty Moore stew (as a back-up plan in case they didn’t catch enough fish to fry up on the fire) for a quick overnight trip to his favorite backcountry stream or lake.
Clarence’s relationship with Christ was the cornerstone of his life. He became an active member – and later a board member – of Central Assembly of God. His faith continued to grow and flourish through years of service, fellowship, and devotion, shaping not only his character but the lives of those around him.
Clarence is survived by his loving wife, his four children and their spouses, eight grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren (plus one expected in February). He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, and one dearly-cherished granddaughter.
Clarence’s family wishes to thank the kind and compassionate care staff at Grace Assisted Living, who worked tirelessly to help us care for him during the last weeks of his life.
