Cheryl Lee Jeffries

October 22, 1949 — May 11, 2023

Cheryl Lee Jeffries, 73, passed away on May 11, 2023, at her home in Nampa, Idaho  .

Cheryl was born October 22, 1949 in Weiser, Idaho to Floyd and Muriel (Curts) Jeffries. She lived in Cambridge and Stibnite. In 1953 she moved with her family to Boise where she grew up. In 2010, Cheryl moved to Meridian and then to Nampa in 2018.

While living in Boise, Cheryl enjoyed going to The ARC where she had many friends and enjoyed being involved in projects that helped the community.  After moving to Meridian and Nampa, Cheryl looked forward to going each day to Meridian Developmental Services where she had many more friends and enjoyed making crafts, going on outings and working. But most of all Cheryl loved to help care for her friends at the Center.

Cheryl loved to crochet and spent many hours over the past 50 plus years crocheting beautiful baby afghans for family and friends. She made so many over the years that she was able to donate many of them to a group that supported young mothers.

Besides crocheting, Cheryl had a passion for collecting stuffed animals.  They were her “kids” and she named each one. She never forgot their names or where she got them or who gave them to her.  But the most special of all was “Minnie” (the bear).

Cheryl enjoyed special trips with her mom to Disneyland and Disney World to see some of her favorite characters--Mickey, Minnie and Winnie the Pooh! She also traveled with her mom and her brother and his family to Hawaii and Mazatlan, Mexico. Cheryl’s family was very important to her. She enjoyed family gatherings and traveling with her mom to see family who lived far away until she could no longer travel long distances.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Muriel Jeffries.

Cheryl is survived by her brother, Wendell (Jean) of British Columbia, Canada and a sister, Lorraine (Will) Bennett of Tucson, Arizona.  Nephews and nieces: Bill (Regina) Bennett of Tucson, Arizona; Jeff (Alicia) Bennett of Denver, Colorado; Shandra (Christine) Jeffries of Alameda, California; Ryan (Jessica) Bennett of Tucson, Arizona; Carrie (Mike) Wasil of Warren, Ohio; Sam (Kim) Bennett of Denver, Colorado.   Great-nephews and nieces:  Will and Amelia Bennett; Zach, Josh, Matthew and Andrew Bennett; Madi, Katie and Daniel Bennett; Elizabeth “Lizzie” Bennett; Sophie Jeffries.

Cheryl is also survived by her dear friend and caregiver, Patty Shaver of Nampa. The love and care for Cheryl that Patty extended was a blessing to Cheryl as well as to all her family.

The family would like to thank Doctor’s Hospice of Idaho for their compassionate care of Cheryl these past few months.

Donations may be made to Meridian Developmental Services or The ARC of Idaho.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel in Boise with graveside services following at Dry Creek Cemetery in Boise.
