Carol Jeanne Bull Smith

Carol was born on July 14, 1928 in Fort Collins, Colorado. She was the daughter of Cleland Chester Bull and Charlotte Ann Kilburn. She joined a sister, Gloria Beth, who was 3 ½ years old at the time. She moved to Boise in 1940 with her family after a cross-country move from Texas. Carol attended North Junior High School and was a graduate of Boise High School. She also attended the University of Idaho and Boise State University. After serving many years as bookkeeper and office manager for Intermountain Surgical Supply, she retired in 1992.

Carol was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had a beautiful voice and sang in the church choir. She did Family Search Indexing, verifying historical records each day for years, having entered over 976,000 names.

Carol married Barr N. Smith, Jr. on July 16, 1950 in Boise, Idaho where they raised their four children together.

Carol had many hobbies and interests that kept her busy to occupy her free time. Watching television, sleeping or wasting time was not Carol’s lifestyle. She was gifted with talents of various kinds of handiwork: sewing; needlepoint; painting; pottery; anything that she could create with her hands. She would graciously give these handmade gifts to people she knew and loved. She also enjoyed cooking and baking brownies, cookies, canning various jams, pickles and fruits were her specialties.

Carol is survived by her children, Kirsten Brooks (San Mateo, CA), Carol (Casey) Bilbro (Pleasant Grove, UT), Chad Smith and Barr (Crystal) Smith of Boise, 13 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Her parents and her sister Gloria Beth preceded her in death.

A graveside service will be held at the Dry Creek Cemetery on August 1, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. Services are under the direction of Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel. Masks and social distancing are be required.
