Burt M. Canfield, 95, went home to be with Jesus on July 27, 2016. He was born February 10, 1921 in Boise to Robert and Mamie Canfield. Burt was the third of their five children. At a few months of age, his family returned to their homestead in Rockland, Idaho where the family dry farmed before returning to Boise. Burt attended Whitney Grade School, Boise High School, and trade school at Boise Junior College. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII from 1942-46. His ship, the USS Lansdale, was sunk in 1944 in the Mediterranean Sea. He received numerous medals including the Purple Heart.

On June 15, 1947, Burt married Beverly Jane Standley in Emmett, Idaho in a triple wedding ceremony with her brother and sister. Burt was self-employed with his own trucks for several years and then worked for Meadow Gold Dairies for 28 years before retiring. They enjoyed their grandchildren and their cabin, and traveling with relatives. Beverly preceded him in death on August 27, 1990 after 43 years of marriage. He later married Shirley Faulk who also preceded him in death after 18 years of marriage. Also preceding Burt in death were his sisters Helen Goodwin Hartman, Leone Torrence, Betty Clark, his brother Robert Canfield, and grandson Peter Curtright. Burt is survived by his 4 children: Judy Curtright (Tim), Mike Canfield (Margaret), Bill Canfield (Janet), Rich Canfield (Kathy); 13 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Irene Canfield, brother-in-law Glea Standley (Loretta); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services will be held at Morris Hill Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2016. Military honors will be provided by the United States Navy. Services are under the direction of the Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel, Boise.

The family would like to thank the caregivers at Overland Court Assisted Living and Encompass Home Health and Hospice for their kindness and loving care.
