Bruce Hinckley Robinson was born on July 14, 1934, in Mineola, NY, to Oliver Preston Robinson and Christine Hinckley Robinson. In his early teens, Bruce moved to Salt Lake City, UT, where he attended high school and studied pre-med and psychology at the University of Utah before completing his medical training at the University of Michigan.
Bruce was married three times. With Jane Romney, he was blessed with four children while he completed his medical education and began a successful career as a vascular surgeon. He had two children with his second wife, Janis Rasmussen. After retiring from surgery, he pursued his passion for integrating western medicine with traditional eastern medical practice and helped found the Meridian Institute of Integrated Medicine. He went on to become a professor of both medicine and psychology. He always loved teaching and was recognized as an outstanding professor.
While applying for a job teaching at Boise State University, Bruce met his third wife, Jayne Eller. They were married on July 17, 2004. Bruce became a stepfather to Jayne’s sons Taylor and Kevin Bell. He also loved Jayne’s mother (Charlotte) and siblings ReNae Bradfield, Robert Eller, and Randy (Kelly) Eller. He was close to Jayne’s extended family.
The last career Bruce had was with the University of Science, Arts & Technology (USAT) Montserrat. He became very close to USAT’s founders and staff. He worked with this group up to his death. His contribution to the field of medical education will have immeasurable ripple effects that will impact many lives.
Major Bruce Robinson proudly served his country as a USAF surgeon during the Vietnam War. He was stationed at Mather AFB in California. He continued to serve 9 years in the USAF Reserves.
Bruce is survived by his wife Jayne, his children: Greg (Robin) Robinson, Doug (Diane) Robinson, Kristen (Ken) Hubbs, Tim (Holly) Robinson, Tyler (Basia Nazarewicz) Robinson, and Megan (Nate) Panek, stepsons Taylor (Colleen Asher) and Kevin Bell, as well as 22 grandchildren, over a dozen great- grandchildren, his sister Christine (Tom) Burton, and several nieces and nephews.
